Coordinating public safety at Super Bowl 60

Behind all the excitement of Super Bowl 60, the Silicon Valley Regional Interoperability Authority (SVRIA), under the leadership of RGS Agency Executive Eric Nickel, quietly coordinated system performance and spectrum monitoring with regional partners to support a safe and secure event.
One of the eleven public agencies RGS supports with administration services, SVRIA operates the public-safety radio system for Santa Clara County, including Levi’s Stadium, which hosted Super Bowl 60 and will host six FIFA World Cup matches in 2026.
As Eric noted, “It’s exciting that SVRIA and RGS connect the public safety community to support safe experiences.”
Major sporting events are only a sidebar to the agency’s main focus–SVRIA provides critical interoperable radio communications for public safety agencies countywide, supporting approximately 13,000 radios and tens of thousands of calls each day.
