Exploring Innovation in Public-Sector HR
RGS’ Fanni Acosta and Betsy Adams attended the recent Personnel Testing Council of Southern California (PTC-SC) conference, where they engaged with public-sector HR pros and explored innovations in recruitment.
The event connected RGS with HR attendees from school districts and cities of all sizes, sharing insight into hiring challenges and innovations, especially for public safety roles. Shifts in applicant perspectives and priorities that emerged during COVID still affect many public positions.
The good news? Many public agencies are trying creative approaches, including:
- One-stop hiring events with on-site physicals and background checks
- partnering with educational institutions for night-school options for the advancement of candidates
- using grants to compensate student teachers
- making recruiters available for one-on-one meetings with prospective employees
Our team learned some new tricks and appreciates the PTC-SC group’s commitment to finding effective (and creative) ways to recruit and keep top talent for our organization and our partners.
